In the evictions at Cool Grainery,County Waterford, Saturday, a man named Darcy and his three daughters made such a_stub- born defence of their house against the bailiffs who attempted to eject them that the officers struck the girls and badly in- jured one. The bailiffs were arrested, charg} ed with assault.

In the next house an attempt was made, aud after a considerable resistance the in- mates were put out and arrested for scald- ing the police.

A madman, on Saturday, attacked a party making hay. The lunatic, who was arimed with a bill hook, killed four men and wounded two. He was cap- tured, standing up to his chin in a neigh- boring lake.
