On behalf of the Engineering Society I would like to welcome everyone back for another year of studying and partying. We in the engineering Dept. are offering a full year course in the art of partying.

Topics to be covered include History of Partying, Par- tying in other lands, the socio-economic effects and future of partying.

This is a very rigorous course and participating stu- dents should be highly self-motivated.

First lab will take place on Thursday Oct.8 at 9:00 in the S.U. Barn with our first topic being OKTOBEER- FEST (German Partying).These first few classes are criti- cal days and bonus marks will be awarded for good atten- dance.

IF YOU ARE AN UNHAPPY FRESHMAN ..

Once upon a time, there was a non-conforming spar- row who decided not to fly south for the winter. However, the weather turned so cold that he reluctantly started to fly south. In a short time, ice began to form on his wings and he fell to earth in a farmyard, almost frozen. A cow passed by and crapped on the little sparrow. The spar- row thought it was the end, but the manure warmed him and thawed his wings; thus, warm and happy and able to breathe, he started to sing. Just then a large cat came by, heard the chirping and investigated the sound. The cat cleared away the manure, found the chirping bird and promptly ate him. n

This story contains three ores

1. Everyone who craps on you is not necessarily you enemy.

2. Everyone who gets you out of the crap is not nec- essarily your friend.

3. And - if yon are warm and happy in a pile of crap, keep your mouth shut. ~
