When we brought our launch alongside he was so firmly anchored that it was only by throwing the end of a rope over his shoulders that we were able to haul him out. and to drag him, like some evil fish, over our side. The two Smiths, father and son, sat sullenly in their launch, but came aboard meekly enough when commanded. LITTLE SANDS NOLES Christmas and New Year’s have come and gone. The principal pastime here was a shooting match on both oceasions, in which some fair'y good shooting was done. The trouble is that tle people do not pay enough attention or take interest in the matter. Thies place has put on a lively aspect this winter—more than usual. We have singing school twice a week, conducted by Mr. Caleb Jordon, a very painstaking teacher; and debating society, which meets every Thursday evening, at which some able suljecte are brought forward for ar- gumeut; aleo praver meeting aud Chris- tian Endeavor Society, which meets once a week in the Presbyterian Church here. Che Presbyterian congregation are con- templating building a new church wish them success in the matter.

Our merchant, Mr. Chartes Olesen, is doing a brisk business. He keeps quite a number of carpenters busily engaged making snow: hoe-, but, alas ! no snow tor Charlie. le also keeps the telephone of- ottcee. I would not be surprised if he would not get a wife through the medium of the instrument. Lassies, take warning.

This place can boast cf a few goud horses. Two of special notice are a dark bay owned by Daniel Nicker-on which promises to be qnite a flyer, and a fine bred mare owned by Samuel Dixon, sired by a Nova Scotia thoroughbred stallion. For henest, square trotting she takes the coke.

Our school is under the management of Miss Mayg-e Crawford, of Wood Islands, a very competent teacher.
