A very interesting reading was given by Mrs. Elmer lnman. Christian Stewardship Secretary. Roll call was answered by fifteen members, and there were alsotwo vzsiiur-s present.

A very inspiring Bible Quizz on the Book of Saint Mark was very i-apably conducted by Mrs. L. S. Vl'oo1frey. Meeting closed with prayer by Mrs. J. Dixon and Miz. pah Benediction.

-SLIGHT ACCIDENT - Yes- terday morning about 3.30 a car struck an electric lightpole on Central street, summers? and came to a stop against a tree on the lawn of The Knights oi Columbus Home. The pole was broken off but no persons were injured. Apparently mechanical failure of some kind caused the car to suddenly swerve into the pole. The front of the vehicle was quite badly damaged.-S.

Festival Attracts Exchange Teachers

TOl'vO'NTO. Aug. -- ICPJ -When September comes 54 Canadians will switch jobs with a corres-

ponding number of British teach- ers. continuing the "exchange" project begun more than 25 years ago.

From coast to coast the Canad- ians, mostly women. are packing their bags for a one-year venture of teaching in schools in England. Scotland or Northern Ireland This year, most of them are going ahead of time.

"They want to be there to see the festival of Britain," said F. K. Stewart, executive secretary of the Canadian education associat- ion which arranges most of the eXChallf!ES in this country.

In Britain the fifty-year-old British Commonwealth League is both founder and promoter of the plan, which has seen some 3300 per- sons from many parts of the Commonwealth instructing for I year in British schools. In turn, just about as many British teach- ers have had a years experience in schools in Canada. Australia, New zealand and South Africa.

As in previous years the great majority of excliange teachers are women. Mr. Stewart says few men participate because most of those qualifying would be mar- ried teachers and unable to leave their families.

Apart from the change, Canadian teachers may go to other provinces or to the United States. This year 20 will make an inter-provincial switch but not many go to the U. S. "Most of them are choosey," says Stewart. "They ivaiit to go to such places as Florida or Arizona." And that's not a'ivavs possible in
