Mrs. Larry Slaizht was not pres- ent Monday evening. I3 May. 1951. at the Beta Sigma Phi Founder's Day dinner at the Charlottetown. Mrs. Slaght is a Beta Sigma Phi. Much as she regretted being ab- sent she was still working in the interests of the sorority. Mrs. Slaght was quite busy with a pros- pective member. The Slaghts se- cond llttle daughter was born on the Founders Day dinner day and though at present an active mem- ber of the Bassinette Brigade of course is slated for membership eventually in the sorority.
Mrs. W. A. MacQuarrie of Hamp- ton ls a remarkable lady of ninety- one years of age. Mrs. MacQuar- rie always has been a quite re- markable lady and that charac- teristic seems to be growing with the years. She lives in a very at- tractive large house at Hampton Corner and continues to keep house in her well-known excellent style. in fact younger housekeepers find it a task to keep up to Mrs. Mu. Quarries standards.
The late Mr. MacQuarria and Mrs. MacQuarrle seemed to know every road. certainly in Queens County. and the residents who liv- ed thereon. Just recently Mrs. Mc- Quarric had a drive with a grand- son in his Jeep and thoroudtly en- joyed the experience. sha is the mother of Mrs. Dixon. known to her numerous readers as Ellen of Ellen's Diary fame.

Den Mgry Haworth: After seven years our marriage seems on the verage of breaklnil up-a thought that terrifies mo. and I just dont kniiw what to do. A: marriage counsellors aren't very available in this area, I hope you can suggest reading that may help us.
Though steady and reliable. my husband is rather (lull. doesn't talk much and hardly ever has ideas of his own. Essentially he has a good disposition, is easy to get along with; but he has no real interest in anything, and never was very affectionate--not even on the honeymoon.
We are childless illlfl llllh was terribly disappointing to me at first; but now I have passed the acute stage of distress. during which I used to weep after visit- ing new babies. My husband's de- tachment has left me alone with this problem. and while at first I was grateful that he didn't draw away from me. now I think I re- sent his lack of emotional support.
He never has put his arms around me when I've been upset. nor discussed this special heart- ache, other than to listen to my medical reports and review our adoption efforts of the last three years. We have no definite pros- pects as yet. ..
SILENT TREATMENT?
Last. week for no apparent reason I had a fit of crying and temper, and again Tom left me to myself. Later. I tried to talk to him and started wrong. I guess. by saying I thought we ought to decide whether we want to go on. as neither of us seems to he get.-
