MID WINTER BIRD SIGHTINGS

Pintail — 7 were seen in company with 60 Black Duck at Wright's Creek estuary in East Royalty in early February (MW).

Goshawk — l seen at Nine Mile Creek, January 26 (fide AL).

Sharp-Shinned Hawk — l on North River Road in Charlottetown on January 27 (GGH, WEC). l at Hampshire on January 27 (GGH, WEC). l at York Point on January 31 (fide GGH).

'Red-tailed Hawk — l was seen in Cornwall on Feb. 7 (JW).

Rough—Legged Hawk — 1 dark phase bird seen at Squaw Bay cn January 16 (GGH).

Bald Eagle-- 1 was seen at Grandview on Feb. 3, by Bruce Aho (fide JW). On Feb. 2 Dave Sorry of Montague saw a Bald Eagle knocking a Great Cormorant out of the air

to kill it (fide JW). Two Bald Eagles as well as 2 Great Cormorant Were seen at the Montague upper bridge on Feb. 13 (JW).

Snowy Owl — l seen several times during January just east of Rustico Island (fide AL).

Black—Backed Three—Toad Woodpecker — l at Kilmuir on February 5 (SW).

Loggerhead Shrike — a shrike seen at the Long Pond outlet on January 18 by Jean Ouellette was tentatively identified as this species (fide AL).

Pine Siskin — l on February 1 and 5 on February 5 on North River Road in Charlottetown (GGH).
