After other routine business the meeting and a report of the Annual Convention read by Mrs. Edmond Gallant. Rev. Father Le- Clair spoke also on the conven- tion and on Miss Coughlin's ad- dress on Education. , .

A vote of thanks, moved by Mrs. Joseph C. Doucette and sec- onded by Mrs. Lawrence Doiron, was presented Mrs. Gallant for her outstanding report of the convention, to which Mrs. Gal- lant replied stating it was a pleas- ure to attend.

A short discussion follow on the ‘Perpetual Rosary” an a day of recollection soon to be held in the parish if’ it can be ar‘ ranged.

The harvest-dawns break so prettily. Dime twilight rests on the morning hills. And suddenly appears the rift of light which hemlds another new day. Gently it rises and spreads above the dusky woodlands. . What a miravcle It is! The sil~ ver screen of night turns to am~ bored shades and rose and be- for long the sun, a bit sober now, climbs above the dark spires and roudns of trees. The day is born! And watching we invariably think of the sick rooms where now the night-lights go out. Will the ill one. restless and wakeful through the long night ﬁnd at last a healing sleep, as we have often seen them do, in the peace and stillness of the dawn? A small frettul youngster ta.an with a child’s misery? Or an adult laid aside temporarily from such paths as we turn to follow?

We enjoy that "haze on the far horizon” of the sunny har- vest days. It goes well with the present unhurried pace of the housewives at Alderlea. now that their husbands dine and sup away One may sit on the- sheltered ver- ath and book or mending neg- lected let one's fancy wander. Until with a start we recall James’ parting reminder of mor- ning: His chuckling “I don't know Ellen, if I’ll be able .to last the day. It’s fairly stiff work we go at . . .”

"My hobby?” she smiled. “I guess it must be raising African Violets! I enjoy doing't'his. . .oh. just to give to Friends or often to help raise funds for some worthy cause. It’s an lnteresing pastime and they bring happ- ness somewhere."
