The Student Union Newspaper welCtmes each persoh to the Start of'a new sesSion at U.P.E.I. As a newspaper, the U.P.E.I. SUN has matured in the last year and is looking fOrward to another year of growth. Any growth will come as a result of the active involvement on the part of the students. That's you! If there's no such thing as student apathy and it's just that there V are other things to do, then perhaps this year each student could consider student involvement
to be of greater importance.
In class,theory is emphasized and considered central to the course content , however,on a broad scale, experience is of at least equal imr portance and helps to make an individual a more well—rounded person. After all, that is why students come to university isn't it?
A general meeting is scheduled for Monday night at 7 p.m. and all of those interested are en- couraged to come. A number of experienced staff members will be on hand to introduce new peo- ple to the various activities involved in the composing and designing of the Student Union Newspaper: reporting, writing, researching, lay- oub mmuxmqmy,gnghk£,pnnfflewfing,twng and constructing ads. _

When you enter as a Fresh— men student at UPEI you are a.menber of the Freshman class. Logical eh?
But what does it mean? .At the beginning of the year a Freshman class meeting is called. The Frosh get to— gether with the purpOse of electing a class executive. This consists of a Pres— ident, Vice-President and Treasurer. It is their business to look after the money and interests of the class.
The prime responsibility of the class is to raise money for their Senior Week.
This week is held during

Student union gives the Fre— shman class $100.00 to start their fundrraising. The rest is up to the class.
YOu can raise money through’ lotteries, dances, parties, raffles, etc.
The most hnportant thing you will need is class sup- port. The success of the SO now when you see your class meeting being called you'll know why. Get out there and support it.
