Extraordinary excitement marked the proceedings in the House of Commons on Monday, and indeed more than enée hon- orable members suffered their enthusiasin to carry them beyond what is generally held to be the decorum of debate. Hour after hour Mr. Gladstone, Mr. Bright, and other Ministers, sat passive anditors of a tempest which it seemed impossible te allny. Almost as the doors were opened, the House filed with expectant members, many of whem could not tind seats in the bedy of the Chamber, and were fain to put up with accommodation in the side galleries. ‘The places allotred to peers, to distinguished strangers, and te the ordinary public, had no inch of “space ub- occupied, and not even the dinner hour could materiaily thin the attendance.

The principle of the billsimply is that every occupier of land is te have the right, by himself or by persons duly authorized by him, to destroy the ground game on his jand, all contracts to the contrary to be void in law, and the right to be enjoyed concurrently with his landlord. This, he explained, was in the main the proposal made by Mr. Clare tead, when giving evidence before the Committee ef 1872 as the mouthpiece of the Royal Chamber of Agriculture.

George Williams, of 21, Eastward street, Bromleh, said that on Wednesday evening he was walking by the Regent’s Canal, Bromley, when he saw the prisoner suddeniy jrtup into the water, and he pulled her out, The water where he pulled the prisoner out was over seven feet injdepth. The prisoner in defence, said that her husband deserted her and her iwo children three weeks ago, and to see them starving it nearly drove her out of her mind.
