Heading Women's Army

In contrast to such festivity. the women's army in England is be- ing efficiently organized. not with- out disturbances behind scenes, however. Whitehall officials are having their own troubles over who is to be on the Command. There are women's units which have never completely disbanded since the last war and members who have kept up activities year after year feel that they should be entitled to some authority in the new outfit.

Titled women who have held honorary posts for a considerable length of time do not want to be pushed to one side by efficient business women. Women who have paid highly for well-tailored unl- forms worn in the present organ- izations clo not want to discard them. There will be a. woman's army soon-but a war in the wo- men's army in the meantime.

Miss Mary Craig McGeachy of Ottawa and of the League of Na- tions Secretariat. was one of the principal speakers at the opening session of the International Coun- cll of Women Congress and talked of the maintenance of understand- ing and co-operation between na- tions. The president, Baroness Pol Boed of Belgium, spoke at length on resisting attacks on women's hard-won advance.

“In the course of these last year" she said, “there has been a ten- dency nearly everywhere to try to take from us results already achieved. We need tu redouble our watchfulness, be ready to defend what we have achieved, consoli- date our gains. and plan for new victories."

Others must file with the cit or town clerk an inventory iis goods to be sold and post a $1.000 bond. This is to prevent a. trick which has often been practised in the past to mislead shoppers. ‘Fake auctions’ were ousted the same way a year ago.
