The test confirmed his belief and he continued digging until a depth of seventy feet had been reached. The speciments assayed proved to be rich in gold and contained some silver. A syn- dicate has been formed and_ preparations are being made to work the lead. Hase.ron, Pa., Dec. 28.—The reappear- ance of the Klu K!ux gang in the vicinity has caused great apprehension on the part of citizens. James Carr and Cornelius McGee, Janesville residents, were notified some weeks ago that they would have to leave town. They paid no attenticn to the warning. McGee was waylaid ly ur- known persons last Saturday and beaten into insensibility. Carr sutfered a similar attack on Monday night. Both were robbed by masked men. This caused the greatest excitement in the vicinity of Milnesville and Coleraine. The band of cut-throats who have been holding up pedestrians in the highway and robbing r them are suspected.
