held the record for parts. He played (our. ranging from a pious Brother Martin to a wily, if maid- enly, Bluebeard in the court of the Dauphin. I';our others, including director Douglas Campbell. portrayed three characters each: The Canadian Players are an outgrowth of the Stratford Shake- spearlan festival. its organizers are Tom Patterson of Stratford. who organized the festival there. and Mr. Campbell. an English actor who has performed at Strat- lord and is Miss Casson's husband. Mr. Campbell said the simplicity of the set grew from the simplicity of staging at the Stratford festival. The program described the pro- duction as "the platform version of 'Saint Joan, " and "the bare bones of play acting." The simplicity idea had been carried further on the theory that the play would be equally exciting with six or seven persons each playing two or more roles.

The group will tour 22 Canadian centres.
