’l'llis was not all. For years we had been struggling with an inferior telegraph service. There was one poor cable be- tween Cape Traverse and Tormentine which ‘was frequently out of service. Our land lines were in a deplorable condition. Tile Borden Government gave us a four core cable between Borden and 'l"oruientine, thus serving the Railway, the Telephone and Telegraph coinpailies. Tile land lilies were rebuilt at a large expense. We received a night letter service which we did not previously have and were placed on an even basis with other Provinces.

Tlltiil came the question of our dwindling representation in the llouse of Commons. We were threatened with the loss of another representative‘ and of a like loss on each succeeding cell- sns, until our representation in the Commons would have fallen to one only.
