| The prohibition debate was resumed yes- | terday, Mr. Mackintosh moved an amend- ,ment, referring the matter to a special |ccmmittee. Mr, Taylor moved an amend- mentto the amendment favoring prohibition and the taking of a plebiscite. Mr. Davies supported the plebiscite. The debate was very dry, the House being only half full (no pun intended.) A member gives notice of & resolution favoring reference of the question of prohibition to the people at the polis, The prohibition debate adjourned.

The House of Commons last night dis- cussed the Irish Lind Purchase Bill. Bal- four moved the insertion of a new clause to regulate the distribution of purchase money among different classes of tenants. Liealy and Sexton opposed the amendment. Parnell supported it. The clause was car- ried by 111 to 26.

But up to the present time he has not been able to find a bridge that needa repairing. This speaks well for Messrs. Campbell and Bentley, the late Commissioners. Crapaud 18 & highiy favored place. The Attorney General had no sooner left the place when his solicitor for Souris paid us @ visit to ad- minister to the wants of the people. They are becoming desperate for fear Dr. Mc- Neill will knock them out in this District. Warburton has no show with the Doctor; hence the arrival of the ministers to help him along. Crosby's health is improving, and it is rumored that he repents having resigned in favor of Warburton.
