Replyinl to the Opposition claim that the Government had failed to give leadership in agriculture. Premier Jones . maintained that the policies followed by the De- partment refuted this charge. "This Government at no tune could prevent people changing-over from livestock to potato farming." he added. ''If we did that we would he called Socialists. But we have always advised people to stick to mixed farming.

"Those farmers who have stuck to five or ten acres of potatoes and kept up their livestock are not in a bad way. It is only the People who have been specializing In potatoes. and owe immense sums for fertilizer, who are in trouble."

Claims At Ottawa
