Probe Shooting In Saint John
SAINT JOHN, N.B. (CPL-After police investigation Monday into the fatal shooting of Albert Louis Hebert, 22, it was indicated he had held the revolver from which the bullet was fired. An inquest will be held Wednesday night.
The shooting occurred in He- bert’s Queen Street basement flat shortly after 6 am. He was pronounced dead by a hospital in- tere. The results of an autopsy will be made known at the in- quest.

TORONTO (OP) — Toronto’s $150,000,000 construction shut- down Vlrtually ended Monday as thousands of building trades workers returned to their jobs following a six-week tie~up preci- pitated by a strike and lockouts.
But the Cement Masons' Union, which struck against the Toronto Builders’ Exchange Sept. 11, kept work at a standstill on nine pro- jects when other union members refused to cross the masons’ picket lines. ,
The Building Trades Council has authorized the masons to picket only major projects where contractors attempt to have ce— ment finishing work done by non— union employees.
Other unions affected by an ex- change lockout a few days after the masons’ strike have returned to work.
The masons, only one of 24 trades groups actually on strike, remained without a contract Mon- day but a negotiating team rep- resenting four large contractors was to meet with the union in another attempt at settlement.
It is estimated 20,000 city work- ers were made idle by the com- bined strike and lockouts. About $150,000,000 worth of construction was held up by the shutdown.

Red artillery on three sides thundered into action after weeks of unofficial cease-fire, sporadic firing and lulls. The Nationalist defence ministry said its count showed 36,432 Shells poured on the Nationalist outposts in six hours.
The bombardment, most intense in seven weeks, was in response to Nationalist China's first defi- ance of a Peiping warning against resupplying the islands on odd-numbered days.
CAMPBELLTON, N.B. (CP)--A planned explosion of unexpected severity killed two CNR employ- ees here Monday, shook the west end in the city and caused thou- sands of dollars damage.
Killed on the spot were John Ross, 56, a bridge and building worker of Oampbellton, and John Lamey, 41, of New Glasgow and Port Hawkesbury, N.S., an op- erations trainee here. Each is survived by his wife and seven children. _
The accident occurred during demolition operations at an old cooling station and coal plant in the ONE shunting yard.

The strike began Aug. 12 after two members of a threeonan con- ciliation b o a r d recommended against wage increases, adopting P rim e Minister Diefenbaker’s “‘hold-the-line" policy on wages and prices.
Labor Minister Daley twice in- tervened in vain attenmts to end the strike. His third try came last Oct. 15, two days after a setle- men at Algoma Steel Company in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., pro- vided for a 27 - cent package hourly increase over a three-year contract.
Basic rate at Algoma had been $1.71% an hour, compared with 31.73% at Stelco. But the twocent difference was accompanied by a bigger increment between job classes at Algoma—six cents an hour compared with 5% cents— wbich in effect gave Algoma workers an average advantage of four cents.

The dignitaries from all over the world represented most of the Christian and many non-Ohlristian nations.
They included leading Europ- ean royalty, cabinet ministers and high prelates. More than 1,000 top-ranking guests were to join in the grand- procession lead- ing the new Pope to his crowning in St. Peter’s Basilica.
