Says Businessmen Must Offer Leadership, Ideas

TORONTO Business leaders must tell their story to the public. place their ideas before the people of Canada and offer leadership in the political. cultural and educat- ional fields. Ira G. Needles. pre- sident of B. F. Goodrich Canada Limited. in a strongly worded ad- dress to the Advertising and Salsa Club of Toronto, yesterday said that governing Canada was ”blg business" and that more business- men are needed at Ottawa. He said that only 10 industrialists were members of the last House of Com- mons.

He issued a challenge to all bus- inessmen to tell the public about their activities and problems by speaking frankly through the press. ”Your problem may be import com- petition. taxes. a labor situation. consumer I ' tancc. a cost in- crease or a need for improved public relations. You must tell the truth and back up your argu- ments with facts and case liistor- ics: you must take the press into your confidence and tell your story with color. force. conviction and enthusiasm". said Mr. Needles.
