Nine complete crews are now at work in different sections of the city on street repairs, Mr. J. A. Fullerton. City Clerk. reported yesterday; and it is expected to make further rapid progress if weather conditions permit.

Mr. G. MacAulay of the Donald inspection 00.. of Montreal, flew in from Montreal on Tuesday and made an inspection tour of all the work done so far, in company with Coun. F. J. storey. chair- man of the Street Committee. In commenting on the work done by the city employees. Inspector Mac- Aulay said. "You must have very good asphalt rakers and finish- ers here. they are doing as good a job as I have ever inspected anywhere." ,

The work specifically referred to has just been completed at the east end of Euston Street, and Mr. Louie Ranahan, city foreman, who had personal oversight of the job, was glad to convey the compli- ment to the crew on the project.

Park Dreastwork

Public Property Committee un- der Coun. G. R. Keefe has also been active. At present the Coun- ty Ccnstructlon Co. are doing an extensive repair job on Victoria Park breastwork, extending for a distance of 812 feet from the Brighton road terminal southward. The breastwork is to be excavated between the edges of the pave- ment and the sea wall to the level of the top of the third waie, end the top two wales carefully re- moved pulling the drift pins to avoid injury to the timbers. The two wales will be straightened and re- set. and butted with creosoted and incised fir sleepers 8 ft. long and 8 inches square. The top wale will be held in place with 22 inch pins, three to the timber. All excavated material will then be replaced and tamped. leaving the finished surface in good shape. Finally the handrail will be re- placed and the general appear- ance of the park driveway im- proved by painting the entire rail- ing green and red.

Had Interesting Trip To Alberta

Dr. W.J.P. MaoMiilan, who was honoured by being presented with a Senior Member 'i: at the annual meeting of the Canadian Medical Association, held recently at Banff Springs, Alta., returned home on Tuesday, having completed his Western trip by visiting his sister. Mrs. C. T. Hynes. at Parlreville, on Vancouver Island.

The Association meeting. which was presided over by Dr. Harold Orr. of Edmonton. brought together more than 1800 persons including the wives of the doctors in attend- ance. On the occasion of the pres- entatlon of senior Membership badges and certificates, Dr. Mac- Millan was particularly pleased to have Governor J.J. Bowien of Al- berta. a native of Cardigan, step forward and clasp his hand in friendship and congratulation. As- sociated with Governor Bowlen. as a guest of honour. was Most Rev- erend W. F. Barfoot. Archbishop of Edmonton, and Primate of all Can- ada.in the Church of England.

Ten German immigrants from West Germany are expected to ar- rive in the Province tonight. Five of these will be placed i.n Prince County and the remainder in Queen's and King's Counties.

These men are coming to the Is- land under the Assisted Passage Scheme. Under a Dominion Pro- vincial Agreement, the Island and the Federal Government defray transportation charges from Ger- many to Canada for these immi- grants. Tile passage money is re- covered in monthly installments from the wages of the men after they are placed on farms here. Ten dollars per month is collected for the first three months, and there- after sl5.00 until the fulll amount is paid. Most of the other prov- inces of Canada have similar agreements.
