This year's edition of ihe airmen's l.am is supposed to be the strongest that ever represented the Summerslde Station. They have made only two starts and have been victor- ious both times, having gained wins over the Junior Abbies and Holman's Intermediates. Sunday afternoon will mark their first appearance in Charlottetown. The game is an important one as it is one of these four point affairs.

Coaching the Abbies track and field hopefuls will be Bill Haipenny one of the best pole vaulters that ever came out of the Maritimes. Haipenny is one of the few ath- letes from this province who ever participated in the Olympics and the Abegweit officials feel fortun- ate that they were able to secure his services.

Earlier this spring it had been planned to hold meets in the pro- vince every two weeks and as far as we know these plans still hold. In addition there will be three major meets for members of the Abbies team. On July 1 there will be a Memorial Day meet. here at which it is hoped to have repre- sentatives fiom'cluhs across the Marltimes. In mid-July the High- land games will be hem at Antig- onlsh while on Labor Day the Maritime Championships will b:- staged here.

Bill Haipenny. well known ath- lele of former years will coach the Abegweit track and field team this summer. it was lenrned here last night from George Walters. Chair- man oit the Abcgweits Track and Field committee.

I-falpenny, was probably the greatest track and field man this Province ever produced. is well qualified to look after the Abbie youngsters and is highly regarded as a coach.

Manager of the Abbies track and field team is Ev, gutcliffe. The Abbies will hold their first practise on Monday evening at 6:30 and they want all interested athletes to be on hand.

The first track and field meet will be held here on July 1. On July 17 the Highland Games in Antigonish will he held and on Labor Day the Maritime Champ- ionships will be staged in char- Jottetown.
