Hugh O'Bryne, 623 Quinpool Road, Halifax, has an Island bred mare Kiilarney Girl, ‘that was a- mong the most admired at the Am- herst Winter Fair and later at the Royal Winter Fair, Toronto. Sylvestre, thorough- bred stallion that Raoul Raymond brought here some years ago. dam. Beauty, out of a. mare called Doi- ly. Dolly was sired by Upton Prince 2.18 1-2 and her dam was the cele- brated Devilish Dorothy 2.l8 1-4. Devilish Dorothy was by Dare Devil and traces back w‘ the Mam- brinos. We have been unable to find out Beauty's size and will ap- preciate it very much if a reader can send it to us.

All the horses in the stable are owned in the family and it is headed by the good campaigner Judd 2.07 1-2, winner of five races last season. It is a big task for the local youngsters but after going through a final workout at the Forum yes- terday afternoon club manage- ment and the players themselves were confident of retaining the crown they won last year.

Their plan of battle will likely ‘be one of going after goals right from the opening whistle. In fact that is about the only plan they can adopt iiiid if they can score a couple of quick ones they will certainly change the present coin- piexion of the series. So it should be a wide open tussle all the way.

The Summerside squad, coached by Charlie Hogan who incidentally has turned out three fine juvenile teams iii the past three years. will be at fiiil strength for the en- counter. The news of the Charlottetown Abbles’ victory over the Souris Legionaires was greeted in Sum- merside with the greatest of inter- est. The Suinmerside Ali Stars and the Abbies will thus meet iri the finals for the’ P. E. I. hockey inter- iiiediate crown. It will be the third consecutive year that Suinmerside and Charlottetown met in the Isi- aiid finals and speculation arises as to whether the locals can coine through this season with the bac- on.

The Summerside team is much stronger this season than a year ago and especially back of the blue line. Schurman will guard the draperies and in front of him there is playing coach Windy Steele. last season with the Mont- ton Hawks, as well as Dr. Vince, Grant who has had a notable hockey career. Queen Square School's second team last night won the C, .1’. Archer hockey trophy when they defeated West Kent's second team 4-3 lo chalk up their second straight victory in the best out )T iiirce series.

Queen square were forced to come from behind w earn their victory. After scoring their first goal of the game they saw West Kent take the lead with two quick goals in the first period. But a three goal splurge by the winners gave them their margin in the second session as the two evenly matched squads split a pair of goals in the final canto.

Leading the winners’ attack was young "Red" Cheverie who pot ted two of his squads goals, with single counters going to Macheod, Baegan and F. Burke. the letters goal the picture tally of the eve- ning. The W.K.S. squads goal- getters were Barrett. Lewis and Curry.

The game was rather clean with only one penalty being handed out by referee Kane to the win- ners.
