Comatose fourth year Business students, massive backups at the Central

Printing Office, and business suits all over campus

It must be Policy time again.

Presentations started today in 237 Kelley Building, and before 4:15 tomorrow, 19 groups of four students each will stand before the judges and have their projects evaluated.

Business 492, Management Policy, is a required course for all graduating Business Administration students, and basically consists of a major research project in which groups of students pick and establish an imaginary small business firm.

At the end of the term they present a report of their operation to a board of judges, this year including all

four Business profs co- ordinating the program, Douglas Cameron from the provincial Department of Industry, and Nelson Hager- man from the chartered ac- countant firm of Hagerman and Baker.

The presentation is worth 100% of the course, and the judges will pick the three best projects and award prizes of $500, $300, .and $200 per group. ‘

Every group will receive $200 to help allay expenses as well, through provincial government funding assist- ance, though School of Business Director J. J. Revell says many spend more than that during the term.

Gem “arrogant”

Dear Editor,

Having read the letter from the Engineering Society and your response to it, I feel compelled to use this forum to voice my opinion.

The Engineers are perfectly correct in their statements regarding the‘financing of the newspaper and what students have a right to expect frOm it. While I’m sure that a good slice of your money comes from advertising, I’m also sure that the Student Union donates considerably as well.

As such,.it is your duty-to

provide to the students a ser- vice they feel they want. For

you and your staff to arbi— trarily decide what is funny and what is not is the height of arrogance, especially when one considers the lack of humour to be found in the paper.

In fact, reading your paper for almost a whole semester, I have yet to crack a smile without the assistamnce of the Engineers’ page (and I have no intention of touching on the fiasco of the Nasty Gem).

The absence of any clear- cut editorial policy for the Netted Gem makes it difficult and discouraging to submit anything, and when it is

behind, shamelessly) govern publishing, a final blow is delivered to student sub- missions.

As a final note, I would like to mention my interest in the question of whether the paper would survive if the staff had to charge price per issue, instead of a bulk sum being extorted from each stu- dent in the form of fees.

Editor: , 'I have been receiving com- plaints that people cannot understand my fantastic fables. I believe that one major problem is that people are reading my material too quickly. When they do‘that, most of the meaning is lost. My material isn’t meant to have too much meaning since some of the humor is derived from the lack of sense. Think of my material as a com— pressed “Alice in Wonder- land”. Often, my characters have problems thinking in a straight line of thought, so don’t fret. Instead, laugh at how their thoughts go astray. In a sense, my material is an allegory on the meaning— less of life when viewed at an objective distance. Do not become frustrated trying to understand it. Just sit back, view it from a distance at your leisure and enjoy it!

Dear Editor,

Just ‘a letter to set the record straight. Perhaps it was just a ploy to chase me out of the library lounge, but last week I was pictured sit- ting in the lounge under a male superiority poster.

I would just like to say that I had nothing to do with that poster, nor do I, in any way, support such a cause.

If there are any females on campus looking for a tall blond, I invite them to come see me — I’m a nice guy, really.

On Friday I got a lot of dirty glares - from female students, and while walking from the bookstore to the Library, the first year Engineers yelled unintelligible gibberish at me.

When Engineers are in- sulting you, you know you’ve reached a new high in low!

Thus, I don’t fee asking for an apology is asking for too much.
