This is purely a diagnostic machlneas was the previous one but it will produce a better plate and is much more flexible for use. It has two tubes instead of one. as in the old machine. and conseq- uently the output is much in- creased. One tube is located be- neath the table and the other is suspended overhead and travels on a double track in the ceiling and floor.

New X-ray Machine Has l Been Installed At

S'side' charge of the X-ray department explained that the new machine has been greatly needed and will enable his department to render much greater service to patients. For instance. in the case of a seriously ill or injured patient that should not be removed from a stretcher or bed the X-ray can be taken while the patient is on the stretcher or bed. He explained its flexibility by saying that any part of the body of the patient can be X-rayed with little difficulty. There are also many advant- ages for the operator. on being that the table is motor driven instead of by crank as was the old one. Dr. liowatt said that work done in the X-ray department had more than doubled inthe past ten years with an average of about 18 patients a day. apart from the work of the tuberculosis clinic which may mean an additional 25 patients when the clinic is in uperatlon. , Cost of the machine is under- stood to have been in the vicinity of 312.000.

Commons Throne Speech Debate Hos Concluded

OTTAWA. ICPI-The Commons' throne speech debate ended Fri- day with formal approval of the government's legislative program and the House turned its atten- tions to study of government busi- ness.

The 16-day debate was entered by 133 members. At the last ses- sion. longest in modern history. the debate lasted 14 days and at- tracted 119 speakers.
