Mayor Wedge reported that June 10th is Air Force Day and at the request of the commanding officer of the local Air Force Station it will be declared a public holiday in Summerslde. However. he said, the King's birthday will not he observed as a holiday this year.

Mayor Wedge also reported that all Town vehicles will be plainly marked as such. Reports are still coming in. he said. that some Town trucks are being seen out» side the Town and he is deter- mined. to stop the practice of their being used for any but town busi- neaa.

According to the reading of the minutes a special meeting of the Council was held on March 28th at which considerable business was transacted. The discussions at such special meetings can not be re- ported in the press is not. as A rule. advised that they are going to be held. At this meeting fend- ers for the sale of debentures for the amount of $100,000 were open- ed and the sale was awarded to the Canadian Bank of-Commerce at a premium rate of 8100.598 for 3100 par value bonds for 15 years at three Dercenf.

Councillor Gorrill. commentinz on this sale at the meeting last night. said that this is Possibly the highest price received by any town in Canada for three per cent bonds and shows that the Town is in good financial condition. He said that one bond house said that the tax collections here are among the highest in Canada.

Also in the minutes of this sP¢f‘-- lal meeting was recorded a decis- ion not to guarantee hands of the Prince Countv Hospital for the amount of 5300.000 as an nplnwn had been received from the re- corder that the Town had not the authority to do so. The matter of a grant of 550.000 to the hosllll‘-ll was left over till a later dale.
