Letters to tre Daiter About That Quiz...

Dear Editor,

I teach a course in Human Anatomy and cover reproductive anatomy and physiolgy in excruciat- ing detail. Therefore, it takes a great deal to embarrass me. However, the February 13 issue of your student _ newspaer not only embarrassed me but it is a disgrace to the University community. I am extremely sad- dened to think that “freedom of the press” in a university publication resulted in freedom of corruption.

_ Perhaps it is time to reread the “Missions and Goals” printed in your university calendar. In particular the fourth statement that reads as fol- lows: “To recognize the of moral

discernment in the use of knowledge, and to provide an environment wherein personal integrity and responsibilty may grow.” I feel that you have clearly let down the univer- sity, and hope that the public sector | has not been subjected to this waste of paper and ink. Soe

Although I believe in freedom of expression, I personally think that your student paper dated February 13, 1996 (volume 1, issue 14) went way beyond that point by allowing the publication of the "corruption quiz”. Promoting healthy and safe sex is one issue, publishing trash like

that quiz offers no educational or

entertainment benefits whatsoever. Allowing such things to be

published has given the sexuality

supplement of your paper absolutely

Ticket Policy Unfair

Dear Editor

I am a hockey fan (congrats and good luck guys!). After the Panthers won the first game of their semi-final series against U de M, I decided to leave home (in Fredericton) a day early so I would not miss the game. My mom also wanted to see the game so she drove me back and planned to stay overnight. When I got back, I saw a sign stating that free tickets for students had been given out on Thursday. I went to the Sportsplex an hour and half early, hoping there would be tickets avail- able and planning to beg if there were not. It was sold out. I do not think that it was fair for them to sell all of the tickets before the students had a chance to get back from their vacation. For those of us who were out of province, we had no way on knowing the tickets would be sold early. I was also told that there were 200 free tickets available to students out of a possible 1200 or so. It is our team, | think that we as students should have been given top priority after the Boosters. I don't know if anyone else found themselves in the same position I was but if they did, I don't imagine they were as lucky as I was. A very nice man who happened to be in the

that a UPEI student, who prefers to remain anonymous, would waste their valuable time to compose such a quiz.
