Larry Scott. Ellison's friend, was played by Mr. Plus Callaghan. Well known to Charlottetown audiences, Mr. Callaghan was seen at his best as the young man who became in- volved with his pal Ellison in the -, 1o r of the stolen pearl neck-

The role of Larry's friend, Jane Brown, was taken by Miss Mar- guerite Cudmore, who very deverly portrayed her part.

The landlady. Bridget O'Rourke. although a minor role was well played by Miss Irobel Storey. Tim- othy Hogan, s. police sergeant. who had a warm regard for Bridget. was another minor role excellently played by Mr. Arthur Bruce, an experienced amateur who always delights his audience.

Mr- John Koran, as Mike Ross. a. gunman and Mr. Earl Csrmody as Hairy Walsh, a detective gave good performances and took their respective roles with skill.

Other supporting members of the cast were Mr. Roy Motlilliviay. as John Cli-incey. the detectives aide: Miss Alice Garrett, playing the role of Mrs. Philip Oar-atoll; a society leader; and Miss Irene Arsenault, as Sorrow the maid.

Prom start to finish the per- formance was very entertaining and well worth attending. The

Pupils from Nova Scotia numb- ered 120 while New Brunswick sent 50 and Prince Edward Island one. (The Halifax school serves the blind of the Maritime Provinces and Newfoundland. Chief Objection to 49 Road

The chief objection to the road on the south side of the river was the Hillsboro Bridge, the speaker thought. It was a railway bridge and narrow and if a motorist met a load of hay on the bridge he was likely to take part of the load with him; or if he met. a farmer with a hay rake or other wide farm implement was likely tohave to back up.

Mr. W. R. Dennis asked the rep- resentatives why machines were not put on the Charlottetown end of the road last summer.

Hon. Mr. Prowse replied that al- though he could not speak defin- itely he believed that the ideawas that the Royalty end of the rand would not. require very much work and that if the other end was sub- graded the work on the Royalty end could be carried on later.

The. Provincial Government could not build paved roadswithout help, Mr. W. E. Warren said. "If there's. going to be a national park the Dominion Government will build the road to it. That might. be the reason why the Provincial Govern- ment workcd on the other end of the road and very little done on this end."

East. Royalty farmers have to pay three times the taxes on their farm property that other sections had to arid were entitled to a fnr better road surfacing than they have at the present time, Mr. L.W. Roper declared.
