St. James’ Caurca.—The re-opening of St. James’ Church, yesterday, after ths completion of the repairs made necessary by the fire, was the occasion of drawing a large congregation to allthe services. In the morning and evening the sermons were preached by the Rev. Mr. Gandier of Fort Mssey Church, Halifax. The morn- ing serason was very eloqueut, the text being the 84th psalm. Fire Yesterpay.—At a very early hour yesterday morning the alarm was rung for a fire in the store of J. B. Mac~ donald & Ca, Queen street. The fire had evidently been smouldering some time before its discovery, as on the arrival of the firemen the shop was filled with smoke. Oua table under the arc light in the centre of the store a large pile of clothing was found tobe On fire. A great deal of walter was applied, and by the time the fire was finally pws outslmost the entire stock of goods on tue premises had been ruined. ‘The fire is thought to have oc-~ curred from aspark dropping from the electric light upon the elotbing.
