The death occurred at hi home on Arcana Street. Surnmarside o1 Saturday afternoon of MT.‘ Hu- bert Gander. at the age of 51S years. The deceased, who had been in ill health for the pa! w; years, was n native of St. Nichol- as where he resided up to about eight years ago when he retired and moved to Summerside. Al- though he has been in faiifng health for some time, new: of m.- death came as a severe shock t: a large circle of friends both in Summcrside and St. Nicholas where he. was held in high esteem.

The death occurred Saturday evening at his home in the Caven- dish Apartments. Charlottetown of ‘Mr. David Rennie Laid in his 84th year. A zetlrcd bank manager. his death came after only e brief ill- HESS.

He was the eldest son late Hon. David Laird and Mrs Laird of Charlottetown. He was educated here and then joined the bank of Nova Scotia. advancing until he became branch manager. He was in charge of branches at. Bummersidc. Hamilton, Ont... Ven- couver. B.C_ and Amherst. N.S., re- tiring some 15 to 20 years ego when he was located at the latter town.

He is survived by a daughter. Miss Lethe Laird, Charlottetown and a son. Arthur C. Laird, Cum- mli. New Jersey. His wife. the former Alcthe Gunn of Summer- eide- and n son. David Sidney Laird, predeceased him.

Yesterday two unusually severe electric storms were experienced in Summerside and vicinity and although no serious damage was reported, several narrow escapes were recorded. ~'!‘hb first storm occurred at about 9.30 am. and the second about 6 .

Several dwellings on Otto/we street were struck during the first storm. At the home of Mr. Harold Chlow the lightning en- tcred an upstairs window, causing considerable damage to one of the bedrooms and hall. At the home be Mr. med Bingham a short distanog away. --LOST YARN BY FIRE — Lightning struck a barn on the farm of Leigh Cole. Spring Brook. in the New London district. on Sunday morning. In a matter of minutes it was a mess of flame and burned to the ground with all its contents The hay crop, poultry, hogs, binder. mower. harness and many small articles were burned. bringing the loss to several thous- and dollars. The late Mr. Mclnnls, who was well kumvn in this City, and the son of Mr. and Mrs, A. N. Mc- Innis. Granville St., had been u- socinied with his father in the bakery business all his life, and ivns an active member of the Orldfcllows Lodge. He was 43 veers of ago.
