A tonpon despatch says: Prince Albert Victor, the elder son of the Prince of Wales and the future king of Eng!and, is to make a tour of tne United States and Canada next year. He willbe 2i years of age on Jan. & next; and his birthday will be celebrated with imposing ceremonies at his father’s palace at Sadringham. Soon after this celebration the young Prince will start for the continent and will sail for Halifax some time pext spring. These arrangements may be interfered with, however, if the House of Commons refuses to grant the allowance of $50,000 a year to the irince which has been asked fer, and against the granting of which the radicals are organiz- ing a strong opposition.

Asoruer land mark has been removed from the City. The log house on Pownal Street situated between st. Joseph’s Co:vent and the residence of Mr. Henry Weeks, has been pulled down in order that an addition to the Convent may be erected on its site. This house, it is said, was over a half century old, and was one of the first comfortable log cabins built in the city. We learn that the addition to St. Joseph’s Convent will be com- menced this fall or early next spring, [t will be ninety feet deep, broad enough to fill up the gap between the Convent and Mr. Week’s, and will be the height of the Convent. When the addition is made the Cenyent will be quite large encugh to accommodate the numer- oys scholars who attend.

DeaTH IN A BataTes —On Friday morning an old reeident of St. John, N. B., Nicholas Furlong, met his death in a peculiar manner. He resided in his house on Horsetield street.

About eight o'clock the eld gentleman rose from his bed and preceeded to the bath room. Nothing being heard of him an hour after- wards Miss Furlorg, his daughter, and Mr. Tyler Dunphy, barkeeper cf the Dufferin Hotel, who boards at the house, forced the door open and discovered Mr. Farlong in the bathtub,dead. Memruis, Noy. 30. There was acollision on the Ohio and Southwestern Railroad this morning. Engineer Moore and Brakeman Neily of No. 9 train were killed. Several others were badly injured. Tie trains were badly wrecked.

Boston, Nov. 30.

Mrs. S. Wentworth, a native of Nova Scotia, was dangerously wounded by a pistol shot fired by an unknown person this morning. The wound is in her left breast and her condition is precarious.
