Dur- ing his long career, Sir Charles has seen every man of distinguished ability, who was & political opponent in the old days of the Confederation struggle become a poli- tical friend; all the measures which he initiated or advocated in his native pro~ vince or in the wider field of Federal poli- ties prove ofsuch lasting benefit to the country that pone care to admit they ever oppoeed them.
