MOSCOW. (AP) - The soviet press is denouncing illicit love, is- pecially in high places. It wants travelling men to sphrc the honor of Soviet Women.
The newspaper Tadzhikistan Communist recently published I solemn warning to Russian women against engaging in love affairs with married men, even though they hold important places in the Communist party or trade unions. The paper is the organ of the party in the Tadzhikistan S. S. R. in central.Asia and is published at stslinabad.
In the early days of the Soviet Union. extramarital relations were viewed tolerantiy by tho authori- ties. and marriage itself was a state easily contracted and broken.
In recent years, however, di- voice laws have been tightened sharply, and immorality is in- creasingly frowned upon.

Criticizing State secretary John Foster Dulles. Rhee said:
"Instead of obtaining positive assurances from Japan that there would be no aggression against Korea, Mr. Dulles efforts have been confined to urging Korea to oo-operate with Japan regardless of vital differences.

Explosion Follows
Tie accident occurred at 10:30 pm. EST Saturday on I straight stretch of road two miles east of Yamachiche. The bus was travel- ling from Montreal to Quebec when it met the empty transport, heading from Quebec to Cornwall, Ont. The centre of the road was bare of snow, but the borders were cy. -
Plante. a driver for McBain Transport Company of Quebec. said he was on his way to Corn- wall. Ont., when the crash took place.
"I don't know whether the bus or my transport was at fault." he said. "However, I don't think I took too much of the road.
"My transport struck the side of the bus and I was pinned in the cab. Some one came and help- on me out."
He said it was his first acci- dent in 10 years as a driver.
The transport struck the front left-hand corner of the bus. pin- ning the driver behind the steer- ing wheel and ripping open the side of the bus. Survivors said the bus burst into flames almost immediately. An explosion follow. ed blowing off the top.

Accident Unexplained
None of the survivors could say how the accident occurred,
"I was reading when suddenly I felt something crash into the side of the bus." Jaoquea Auga, do, of Mont-mi. said from his hospital bed where he was being tregfed for head and facial cuts.
"The bus crashed into the ditch and I saw smoke spouting from the rear.
"I got out by feeling my wgy alone the seats bordering the aisle. I couldn't see. The lights were out and I was blinded with smoke and blood from I. cut on my forehead. I finally came to the front and fell into the snow."

Mr. Caswell, who is a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Casweil, Pleasant Grove, P. E. I., noticed the fire as he was on his early morning route. He raced to the house where he noticed the blaze and entering the building, rushed from apart- ment to apartment rousing the oocupants. N men, women and children were roused and left the blazing building without mishap. The firemen fought the fire for three hours in near-zero weather. They were loud in their praise of Caswell for his prompt and efTect- ive action in rousing the sleeping occupants, resulting in the avoid- anco of what might well have been I catastrophe of major propor- tlons.
The heimic young man was pre- sented with a cheque for sum by his employers, Famier's Limited, in appreciation. A movement is on foot by the City of Halifax to

The annual meeting of st, Charles Auxiliary of the Char- lottetown Hospital, was held in the boardroom of the Hospital on Jan- uary l0. The president, Mrs. step- hen Trainor, was in the chair.
Interesting reports were given, including the ti'easurer'a report, which stated that the sum of 31,939.07 was raised during the year. The annual play, tag day, membership dues, cake sales, rum- mage sales, were money raising projects during the year. The re- port also stated that the Auxiliary had been able to pay the sum of 3773 to the Hospital for laundry equipment, a 5100 bursary-for post-graduates, 380 for flowers for the nurses' graduation. and S3235 for the patients' library.
The result of the years work was gratifying and it is hoped in the coming year, interest in the work of the Auxiliary will con- tinue to grow.

Rosenherg's Lawyer Dies of Heart Attack
NEW YORK, (AP) - Lawyer Emanuel l-l. Bloch, who led the loni. bitter and futile defence of atom spies Julius and Ethel Rosen- berg, was found dead Saturday in his Manhattan apartment.

NEW DELHI. (AP) - Medical authorities in Lucknow Friday re- ported Iiter I preliminary exami- nation that the nine-year-old "wolf boy" discovered last week riding on a train has developed I double set of upper jaw incisors during his jungle childhood, ac- cording to reports published here.
Press reports quoted Dr. D. N. Sharms. superintendent of Bal- rampar Hospital in Lucknow, where the boy is under observa- tion, as saying the incisors "have been developed from long contin- ued scraplng of raw meat from bones."
Dr. Sharma added the boy has "never before been in human en- vironment and has not acquired human habits." He said the youth licked milk and water like ani- mals.

Higher Pensions For Retired M.P.'s Seen llnliely
CIITAWA, (CP) - Members of Parliament may soon be getting indemnity boosts, but ifhey likely wll get no increase in pensions,
Prime Minister St. Laurent has decided against any increase in the maximum s3,000-a-year pay- ment which- MlPs can get after service in I7 sessions, a cmbinet souice said Saturday.
He made that remark as Mr. St. Laurent gave notice on the Commons order paper that he will introduce it bill to amend MPs' pension legislation.
The brief notice carried no de- tails. The bill likely will be made
public before Mr. St. Laurent leaves on his world tour next Thursday.
The move to double MPs' in-
demnitlee brought speculation that maximum pensions for MPs also would be doubled to 86,000. but it is expected that there may only br- some adjustments to contrib- utions.
Currently. M'Ps contribute six per cent of their indemnity-that ls, 3240-with the government put- ting up nn equal amount.

Death in Saint John of Mr. , VI. Arihiisieel
Dr. G. D. Steel' attended the funeral of his brother the late W. Arthur Steel last Wednesday in Saint John. N. B., which followed his death on January 20' after I short illneu at Saint John General Hospital.
Born at Pownal. P.EI., a son of the late Rev, Dr. George Steel and Anne (Snsith) Steel, he had been I. resident of Saint John for 25 years and an accountant at the General Hospital for over 20 years. He was formerly employed for sev- eral years by ihe Ford Motor Com- pany of Canada at Windsor, Ont., and earlier was a mesnrbe of the staff of the Royal Bank of CEHHKAI at Sackville, N.B. and Charlotte- town. Mr. Steel was a veteran of the First World War, having served with the 42nd Black Watch Highlanders of Montreal.
Surviving are his wife, the for- mer Olive M. Scott of saint John: four sons. Winton G., William A. of saint John and Brian P. and Geof- frey, at home: one daughter, Miss Mary A., at home: one brother Dr. G. Douglas steel. Charlottetown: one sister, Mrs. (Rev) George D. Macbeod. Hamilton, Ont., and sev- eral grandchlldrcn, nephews and nieces.
Voluntary Health Agencies Meet
An interesting joint meeting of voluntary health organizations was held Friday afternoon in the Health Centre. Represented were the Red Cross. Polio Chapter, Cer- ebral Palscy Parents Association, Rotary Club and Department of Health. The occasion was the visit to the province of Mr. K. 5. Arm- strong, executive director of the Canadian Council of Crippled Chil- dren. The above organizations all have a direct interest in the treatment and rehabilitation of handicapped children and the meeting provided an opportunity for an exchange of views and an outline of the activities of each agency. -
Considerable discusion evolved around the desirability of co-ordi- nation of activities of existing voi- untary agencies rather than the formation of a new group directly representing the Canadian Coun- cil for Crippled Children. Such co-ordination might take the form of an enlarged general treatment centre in which resources for sur- gery and various therapies would be pooled. All handicapped chil-
dren could be treated in such I centre. As I. further step to ensure
economical use of funds raised in the various campaigns and topre- vent overlapping of programmes a suggestion was discussed to form I Provincial Council or voluntary agencies. such Council would be representative of existing organiz- ations and by periodic meetings would seek to keep each organiz- ation aware of the activities of the others, to clearly define the sphere in which each will work and to utilize to the best advant- age the resources in equipment and trained personnel which may be collectively available.
A committee was formed It the meeting to further study this matter and prepare a specific pro- gramme for such Council which would then be placed before other welfare organizations for their views. It was felt that in the field of rehabilitation particularly there is scope for co-ordination and fur- ther study, which such I Council could provide.

That is, Canada buys more from the U. S. than it sells. Un- der "normal" conditions, this would place the valiie of the cans- dian iloilar considerably under the American dollar. But the theoreti- cal "norm" seldom applies to monetary conditions.
From the beginning of the Sec- ond World War to Sept. 30. 1950. the Canadian dollar was ”pegged" at 90 cents U. 5. That is, Canadian monetary authorities would sup- port this fixed price to keep the currency stable.
