HALIFAX. Aug. 21 -(CP)-R.C. MP. tonight issued a warning to residents oi fishing villages south of here to beware of floating ob- jects resembling "oil tins," which ilshennen reported yesterday had exploded near their boats.

The incident was first reported to police after Kenneth Slaunwlhite and two companions found one of the objects at sea. They tried to haul it in-board but it slipped from their hands and sank. An explosion which followed "rocked the boat violently."

A subsequent. search failed to dis- close any further "oi-1 tins."

In addition to warning fishermen not to touch the objects, police asked thorn to report them im- mediateiy.

There was some suggestion that they might be smoke generators usfid during the war and jettisoned at sea aiier hostilities ended.
