Choirs Combine For Services

BEDEQUE—The Week of Pray- er was observed in the Bedeque area as usual. Notwithstanding the severely cold weather there was a good attendance. On-Tues- day evening the service was held in the United Church, North Be- deque. The pastor, Rev. Angus Brown presided and conducted the service. He was assisted by Rev Dr. C.A. Britten, and Rev. G.A. Cowper-Smith gave the ad- dress.

On Wednesday evening the ser- vice was held in the Central Be deque Baptist Church. The pas- tor, Dr. Britten was in charge. Rev. G.A. Cowper Smith led in prayer, and Rev. Mr. Brown gave the address.

On Thursday evening there was also a good attendance in the Bedeque United Church. Mr. Cow- per-Smith was in charge and Mr. Brown led in prayer. Rev. Dr. Britten delivered the address. In all these services several mem- bers of the congregations offered prayer. There was a union choir at each service. The offerings at the three services amounted to $31.00. “

BIBLE SOCIETY

The annual meeting. of the Be- deque Branch of the British and Foreign Bible Society was held in the Central Bedeque Baptist Church at the conclusion of the Week of Pralyer service on Wed- nesday evening. 3

The president, Mr. Howard Schurman, presided. The secre- tary, Mr. Ralph Callbeck read the minutes of the last meeting, and Mr. Vernon Craig, treasurer, reported that $627.00 had been collected for 1958.

There were four life member- ships: Mr. and Mrs. Howard Sch- urman, Mr. Albert Weeks and Mrs. Avalah MacCallum, Carle- ton Siding, who was made a life member by Mrs. Hedley Low- ther.

All the officers were re-elected. A vote of thanks was passed to all the collectors for their faith- ful work. Rev. E.S. Weeks closed the meeting with prayer. B.Q.
