Mrs. Jane 1''. Trainer, 72. Haver- hill, Mau.. died December 15, at the Hale Hospital.

She was born in New Haven. Prince Edward Isla d. March 2. 1082. daughter of the late Neil and Margaret (Buckley) McFadyen and lived in this City more than 50 years.

Mrsfliralnor was a graduate of Prince of Wales. a member of Sacred Heart Parish end the Catholic Women's Club.

Besides her husband James W. Trainer. she leaves there daughters, Mrs. Helen Coddalre. Somerviile; Mrs. Constance Morin, Seymour. Conn. and Miss Hazel Tralnor of I-laverhill; three sons. .1. Milton Trainor of Marblehead; Francis J. and Gerald L. of this city; two sisters. Miss Mary Mc1"adyen of Boston and Miss Margaret McFad- yen of I-ieverhiil; a brother James Mchdyen of New Haven, Prince Edward Island. and six grand- children. -

with one-half our semuter gone. we once more assume our studies to begin a new year-1064. To many this is just another year but to the present student body and to the former Bt. Dun.sts.n's students who are scattered through- outlthe country 1054 will be a memorable year. It will be memor- able because the Commencement Exercises next. May will mark the one-hundredth graduating class to pass through the doors oi st. Dunstan's. when we review the history oi st. Dunstan's from the day eighteen students' enrolled in is one roomed building to the present day when the enrollment nears -three-hundred, plus our modern conveniences we see that our college has progressed tre-- mendcusiy. In view of this it is quite understandable why we should rejoice and give due respect to the occasion. In this matter everything is in readiness and the Centennial Year will be officially opened on January 19th when Pon- tlficial High Mass will be cele- braced by Most Reverend Maurice Roy. D.'I'l-I, Ph. D.. Archbishop of Quebec. Since many students wil' be unable to attend the main cen- tennial celebration in August, the sermon will be given by Right Rev- erend J. A. Murphy, D.D., who was Rector of St. Dunstarrs from I926 to 1943.

During the past several weeks Rev. Edmund Roche. Professor of Mathematics and Secretary-tram surer of the Alumni Aasoclatlor. has conducted alumni meetings throughout Canada and the United States. The main purpose oi the meetings was to draw up plans for our centennial year which opens next Tuesday and reaches a climax with a four day anni- versary celebration from August 2nd to August 5th. Father Roche. who keeps some 2000 former stu- dents informed of the college act.- ivltlee through a quarterly pamph- let, the Alumni Bulletin had on his trip travelogue films of Prince Edward Island which he showed at each meeting.

Since our last writing of "The Week". the Intramural Basketball Champions have been decided. The Junior and Grade XII class met in the finals by virtue of their wins over Grade XI and Seniors. respectively in the semi-finals. In the finals the Juniors emerged victorious with scores oi 34-28 and 28-21. The game weer as close as the score indicates-but the Juniors with such men as Jack Reardon, Gus Dorals. and Bob Mooney for coaches had several spectacular plays saved -for the occasion. The members oi the winning team are: Lloyd Gaudet (captain), Thomas Katie. Charles Roche, Ralph Gau- det, Dick Wedge. Paul Jay. Basil Campbell, Reg McQuaid, Aquinas Ryan. and Thomas McGaugh.

During the twelve game sche- dule Diok Delghsn scored a total of 121 points to lead the league in this department. He was fol- lowed by Thomas Kane and Charles Morrison.

In the Juvenile Basketball Lea- gue the seniors won the crown by beating the Juniors 35-8 and 32-28. The members of the chem- ploehlp team are: Pat. Mn.cKenns. (captain), Bill Whalen. Leo Clar- kin. Leo Ms,cQuaid, Jim Johnston, and Ronnie Maclver.

their first game in the blend Basketball League. got away to a good start by downing the R.C.A.F by a score oi 00-35 on Tuesday. January lath. The guns was a rotber dull of-fair as the Saints were never pressed and as a re- suit did not. play their best ball. playing-coach Jack Reerdon. play- ing his usual steady game, came up with a 40 point performance. He was followed by Brand Slowey with 17 points and John Taylor with 12, Our. Dorais. probably the best-ballhsndler in the Maritlmes, came up with an 8 point per- formence.

Our Hockey Team lost an ex- hibition game 0-0 to P.W.C. last Thursday. The game, the first play- ed by either team this year. took place in the Forum and featured hard-checking by both'teams as well as some flashy play-making. The big point getter for St. Dun- stan's was Rodney Meclnntis with three goals; Lloyd Gaudet and Bill Mauieaac chipped in one goal each. We do not predict a big year for our Hockey Team but we feel that if they are given more games with teams such as P.W.C., they will be a big threat in Intercoll- egate competition.

Perhaps we should apologize to the Co-eds for saying so little a- bout them in our column till" this late date. However we are proud to say that their sponsored dance which was held in The Roll-way last. Thursday nlte was a big suc- cess. We trust that the income from the dance will be put to the best oi use. and suggest that a party for the boys would be very appi-opiate. .

Last; Saturday evening Fr James Kelly showed several films in the Assembly Hall. The films, which were educational as well as amus- ing, were greatly IPPFECIII-Ed by the students especially those who prefer to remain on the campus rather than go to town. We trust that films of s. eimillsr nature will be shown each week.

Usually about this time in the New Year we begin to vlever in the good resolutions we made. No matter what it costs us to make good resolutions, we soon realize how much more difficult it is to keep them. Perhaps it is to en- courage us, that we are reminded of the theme of childhood at this tlrne. as we call to mind the child- hood of One Who came into our midst as a little child so long ago. an Who loved little childi-as so rnudh.

It is an inspiration to us when we notice how simply and direct- ly little children carry out what they prornlae to do. so long as they have complete trust in the wisdom of their parents, it is easy for little children to form a good intention and to carry it out without doubt or hesitation. They can be single-minded and candid. where we so often are of two minds and fall into dup- liolivy and hypocrisy.
