E.I., who said that ihe amendment moved by Camerou meant repudiation. He denounced the policy of making deceptive statements about the country and the Canada Pacific Railway in order to allure British capital.
Mr. Foster replied to Mr. Davies in a very effective and happy speech.
The Opposition amendment was defe ited by 100 against 51.
The main motion was carried, and the House went into commiitee on the resolu- tions.
The Short Line Railway.
Orrawa, June 25. Pictou and Cape Breton M. P.’s endorsed the offer of Messrs. Kamper and Dharterie to complete the line of railway from Oxford to New Glasgow and extend it to Louis- burg. They have made arrangements with Paris bankers to get an advance of $2,200,000 for the immediate payment of the old debts contracted by Norvin Green’s company. ‘They will complete the whole line, providing the Government will so arrange the subsidies already voted as to make it $73,471 yearly, and payable to the order of the bankers.
