Mr. Power in his opening speech, began wi‘th an attack upon the gov- ernment for commissioning Hon. all. D. lMoEwen to g0 to the \Vt:'st drrdies on a trade mission. "His at- tack was along -general faultflnd- in; principles and the audience did not appear to take him seriously. ‘His next charge against the govern- mont was that u hadpaid $5,000 m, ‘un experimental fox lztatlon at Charlottetown. Thin "attack fell fiat when Hon. J. H. ‘Myers explained that no such payment had. bccn made and that the experimental fox station had ‘been provided by the Canadian ‘National ‘Fox Breed- ers Association oi Canada. Mr. Power repeated the usual statu- ment that there was discord lu 0hc' ranks of the Stewart government. This was refuted ‘by liiiessrs ‘Myers and ‘MacPhce. both of whom inscri- ed that the greatest harmony had always existed among Mr. Stewart's followers. Not only this but they iboth unade striking comparisons be- tween the fealin Q existing under the present ‘an ‘s-Beu administra- tions. o. subject which evidently was not ‘to Mr. Johnston's liking as he visibly winced while the com- pa-rlsou was made. Mr. ‘Power made several other vague charges all of which were effectively refuted by the Conservative spe-a-kers.
