The ‘community at Egmont Bay were shocked by the sudden deatn there on Sunday oi Mr. John D. Gallant. Mr. Gallant, who was a well known and progressive tanner lnthe district, had driven in his car w church on Sunday morning and was about to enter the edifice when he collapsed on the steps from heart failure. A doctor was imme- diately summoned and pronounced death to have been instantaneous. The deceased was only 46 years of age and apparently in the best of health. Of the flve prisoners tried at this term _for criminal offences John Mckenna has been sentenced to six months imprisonment in the Prince County jail for assault. Hugh Mc- Kenna has been allowed out on rec- ognizance pending retrial as the jury disagreed and failed to find a verdict. John Winchester charged with receiving stolen nets was ac- acquittcd by the Jlllfy 8nd released. Galbraith and Smith charged with harboring smuggled are stil in jail pending retrial as thexiury dhagroed in their case also.
