The latter, whois nowin the East, courteously placed bis office at Miss Shaw’s disposa!,so that she was enabled there to interview many public officials and prominent men regarding the agricul- tural, dairying mining, and lumber re- sources of Canada. The information thus acquired will doubtless be put to good advantege forthe Dominion. Miss Shaw sails tor England by the new White Star steamer Cymric from New York on November 9th.

Exrerraixsment at Sovris.—If a anfti- cient number of people apply at the ticket agent’s office of the P EI Railway,a special train will be put on on Thursda y next, the third of November, to convey them to Souris to attend the concert and supper in St Patrick’s Hall, in connection with the Presbyterian church at that place. The fare will be one dollar from Charlotte- town and intermediate stations, including return trip, the trair to return after the entertainment is over. Should the special net go, return tickets at one dollar will be issued by the regular evening train, return- ing on following morning.

Geologist Returns.

Orrawa, Oct 28.—Mr. James McEvoy, of the Geological Survey staff, has return~ ed from his season’s work in the Yukon Head pase, Rockies, and around the head waters of tbe Fraser and Thompson rivers. This is a section of Canada which has not been much covered by the survey, ands said to be a very promising district.
