Quick Work.-—The steamer Edgar Stuagt, Capt. Doane, !-ft this pert for Charlottetown, P.. £. L., at 5 p. m., on Saturday, i2th inst., arrived there on the following Sunday eren- ing, loaded 6,000 bushels of potatoas, sailed te return on the following Tuesday morning, arrived here on Wednesday morning, dis- charged cargo, took in a large quantity of freight for the Western shore, whence she sailed at 4.30a.m., Thursday, proceeding as far as Yarmeuth, and returned again to this pert, arriving here at $8 o'clock Saturday afternoon. This is remarkably quick work, aud Captain Doane may justly feel proud of the steamer which he commands.——//1. Herald.

ALLEY vs. Docnemin.—Yesterday a moticn was nade in toe Court of Chancery, before Vice Chancellor Hensley, by Mr. Hodgson, counsel for the defendants, for an order to aseess the damages sustained by the defend- ants by reason of their engine being stopped by the plainti'?. They claim that as the in- junction as far as regaris the working of the engine having been dissolved, they are entitled to damages. It appears that the plaintill put in an undertaking to pay any damayes at the time of the granting of the injunction, in case the samie would be dissolved at the final hearing of the case. A rule nisi, returnable next Tuesday, was granted.

Oxstrvary.- Mr. J. F. Walton, the English man who accilentally shot himself recently near McNab’s Island, died at the ‘* Waverly,” where he has been stopping, on Friday night. Death resultel from lock-jaw. Mr. Walton was a son of the Sheriff of Somerset, County, England, a position of much importance, one from which there is no income, buta great deal of expenditure. Deceased was only 26 years of age, aud leaves a wife. The remains will be enclesed in a silver mounted metallic casket and ferwarded by the mail steamer on Tuesday.—Hs. Herald, June 21.
