This is the first of a series of articles on the Coffee Houses which ere now opperating in Cherlottetown. We decided it was about time. the_students of this univer- sity were given an idea of some of the places to go other than the movies eround hotte- . “

The old Subway is' now 0- pen but is now celled Shalom. For those of you who_don't know, it is located in the basement of the Kirk of St. James. The atmosphere creat- ed by the setup and enter-

Erie Chan- -dler,BBernie Mullin, Jim VLe Flood end Wiesey Edwards were the entertainers lest ’qudey night and they on the whole did an adequate job. ‘ Eric Chandler does a good 'job with a guitar but because ,of lack of time to prepare .for the show he didn't come across as well as he could “if he had more time.

Bernie Mullin made a very good showing for her first

-time out and we hope to see her again in the future. Al- though she wes nervous she showed great potential.

Jim Le flood played a few instrumentals and generally did a good job showing his experience and coolness with

a guitar in front of audiences.

Wissey Edwards played e lot of Elvis Presley hits and a few Johnny Cash songs. He did more then his share in creating a relaxed atmosphere.

Generally the report from here is that if you went a , change, try Shalom. The at- mosphere is relaxed and the entertainment looks like it will be worth taking in.

The Hockey Panthershgein- ed more experience then glory- jet the StFX Invitational Hoc- key Tournament, held at Anti- .gonish on-Nov. 5 end 6. The UPEI teem dropped their first game 7-6 to the heavier and ‘more experienced Del. Tigers on Friday night, but they we .were able to eke out e 6-5 'win over Acadia to take the consolation event.

Upcoming games for the ‘Panthers will take them to St. John's, Nfld. on Nov. 13

. and 14 to meet the Memorial ‘University Beothuks, and to Antigonish end Halifax on Nov. 19 end 21 to meet the XgMen and_the Tigers.

THE BARN

It has been noticed that the condition of “The Barn”, as far as its tidiness is concerned. has deteriorated greatly in the 1ast_few weeks. There has been a. general diaregard for the equipment available. the tables and floors being mis-- used by having food, cigar- ettes, etc. leftuon them (or should we say, dumped on them)

The washrooms. too. have been the subject of much carelessness by the stud— ents, especially the ladies washroom. Mirrors have also disappeared from the wasn- rooms. We have been notifed by the Student Union that if these abuses do not stop, it will necessitate an increase in student fees for next year and. qr rewards will be given to anyone reporting breaks. thefts. or damages to any student property (for example at the Pig'n Whistle). These should be reported to the Student Union. if there is enough evidence to support a conviction.
