ENVIRONMENTAL CALENDAR:

Sept to Dec., — UPEI will be offering an ecophychology course from 3 to 4:15 on Mondays and Wednesdays in its autumn session. This course will explore linkages between human relations with nature and psychological experience. Contact Don Mazer at 629-1590 for more information.

Oct. 1 - First autumn meeting of the Natural Histbry Society. Kate MacQuarrie will speak on Life on the Edge of the Water (Sand Dunes). The meeting starts at 7:30 pm at the Farm Centre on University Avenue.

Oct. 3 & 4 - Atlantic Society of Fish and Wildlife Biologists will meet at Mill River. Contact Kate MacQuarrie at 892-7513 or 566—9150 for more information.

Oct. 5 - Second Annual Autumn Classic bird count (see article below). — birding for Natural Areas funds! Contact Barb at Island Nature Trust for pledge sheets (892~7513) or complete and return the attached pledge.

Oct. 15 - A special presentation "Yukon Wild Rivers - Wild Lands Tour" will feature a stunning visual and musical presentation on the Yukon. This two hour multi- media presentation to be held at the Arts Guild is being brought to the Island through the efforts of the Island Nature Trust working in conjunction with a number of national groups. Oct. 17 to 20 - Heritage Canada’s Annual Conference will be hosted in Summerside with the theme Pride, Policy, and Profit: New life for Heritage Places. Michael Bliss, renowned historian and author, will speak on Heritage in the let Century. Oct. 21 - All writers are invited to submit a written essay, poem, historical fiction, humour, or other form on this well known writer, doctor, professor, and much more. The six prizes range from $450 for first to three thirds of $50. All prize winners plus honourable mentions will receive a one year membership in the Sir Andrew Macphail Foundation.

Nov. 5 - Friend Herring will be the featured speaker at the Natural History Society's Meeting which will be held at the Farm Centre on University Avenue. The topic will be "Local Activities of the Atlantic White-sided Dolphin". Meet 7:30 pm

Dec. 3 - "The Beaver Population of the Island" will be Randy Dibblee’s theme as guest speaker at the Natural History Society’s Meeting. Meet us at the Farm Centre on University Avenue at 7:30 pm.

Dec. 21 - The P.E.I. National Park Audubon Christmas Bird Count will be held.

Jan. 7 - The Natural History Society's Annual General Meeting will feature the Society’s annual slide show. The meeting starts at 7:30 pm. at the Farm Centre on University Avenue.

SECOND ANNUAL AUTUMN CLASSIC:

The Island Nature Trust and the Natural History Society of Prince Edward Island are holding their second annual Autumn Birding Classic.
