Internatlonalists tell us that wc in Canada are fighting nature and geography in dividing the upper and lower parts 0f this North American continent by an imaginary line some 3000 miles long, and that may be so; but there is something in every drop of Brit sh blood that flows in your veins and mne, and that dominated the acts of our fore- fathers that long since settled this matter, and as a result we in Can- ada have spent fortune upon for- tune in building our railways and canals, running East and West in. stead of North and South, many miles of which would not have been laid or would be lying idle today had there been a reciprocity arrangement in existence such as Canada had with the United States from 1854 to 1868, which treaty the rulers in Washington in those days
