The slevedores started work last night as soon as the boat docked to clear up the ship's

holds and deck. and to put the dunnage aboard in preparation for loading potatoes this morning. The ship was brought into port by pilot. I-Jordan Gotcll, assisted by co-pilot. Victor Raiusc.

Ssurel accom- panied tlie Oddvar for some miles from Charlottetown when the boat left yesterday morning. hav- ing to break ice in the Charlotte- town harbour to make a passage for the ship. Today there, is not the slightest sign of any ice. even on the shores.

Montague and Murray Harbour played to an 8-all tie at the Murray Harbour Rink on Wednesday night before a packed house Playing a fast rugged game. both teams re- malned on the attack throughout the whole game. The first period was over half gone before Mac- Lean. Montague centre. scored the first tally. to be evened at the 16.00 mark by Miunn. Lannigan put the Meteors one up with five seconds to go.

The second session was a series of nine scores with five going to Montague. and four to Murray Harbour, and in the last period the Meteors scored one while Murray Harbour scored three. to bring the last period to an 8-8 tie.

A ten-minute overtime period was scoreless. '

The residents of Middleton and surrounding districts were sadden- ed and shocked on the morning of Dec. 11. 1950. to learn of the sudden and untimely death of their friend and neighbour in the person of Mr. Richard Johnston.

The deceased had suffered a severe stroke in the early morning of Dec. 10 from which he failed to rally and on the above men- tioned date his soul paased to the Great Beyond. Although he had reached the advanced age of eighty-one years Mr. Johnston had

been enjoying goodhealth up un-' A

til his sudden illness.

The late Mr. Johnston was born in Middleton. son of the late Rich- ard Johnston and Mary Ann Me- Murrer and except for a few years

spent in the United States had lived all his life on the family homestead.

He was it member of St. Mais- chi's Church. Klnkora and died fortified by the last rites of Holy Mother Church, administered by his pastor, Rev. Fr. McQuaid. He leaves to mourn his death his wife formerly Sabina Kelly of Klnkora: one daughter (Mary) Mrs. Ernest Deighan. Summersidc: and two sons. Charlie of Everett. Mass. and Seblness of Klnkoro. besides twenty-one grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. who will ever cherish loving memories of their grandfather.

Also surviving are two sisters and two brothers. namely, Mrs. Francis McCarvllle. Emerald; Mrs. T. A. Mclvor. Summersldc; John Johnston. Central Bcdeque. and lgcter Johnston. New Glasgow. N.

The funeral was held from the residence of his son Sebiness to St. Malachi's Church on Wednes- day morning. Dec. 13. and was at- tended by relatives and friends from far and near. Requiem I-li'.:h Mass was sung by his pastor. Rev. Fr. McQuald. who also performed the final rites. The casket was tenderly borne to the grave by six of his nephews. namely Al-
