The woman, whose age is 24, claims that she has been sold twice by Hyatt in order to raise money. On one occasion she was given in exchange for a horse to a man named Lewis Whitehead; subsequently, however, she got away «ccording to her story, and hence the present action against Hyatt.

Pucuisric — Arrangements have been made by the Coney Island Athletic Club for a finish fight with four ounce gloves be- tween Peter Maher and Joe Goddard. The match will take plsce next month for a purse of $7.500. Maher has been defeated by Fitzssmmons, the Australian wonder Goddard was practically knockel out by a middieweight in Australia, and has made a poor showing since he came to America.

Winnirec, Oct. 14.—QOalgary advices state that prairie fires have done immense damage in that neighborhood during the past few days. The country has been fire- swept from the Bow River to Red Deer in the north, and from Dog Pond in the west, tothe Calgary and Edmonton railway in the east. Thousands of tons of bay, many buildings, cattle, and, more than probable, several lives, have been snuffed out by the flames, which, owing to the high winds, spread with fearful rapid:ty. Men hauling hay to stack it had to unhitch their barses and ride for thew lives. The best hay dis tricts in the Northwest have bees burned over. The conflagration is supposed to have originated in a huster’s camp fire.
