The dry goods house of James Paton & Co., is apparently advanciag by leaps and bounds. Bach year finds the firm mak- ing changes and improvements tou meet their ever-increasing trade. nO exception

Early in Febraary the firm begaa the makiog of ex'cnsive alterations, and up to afew days agothe cerpenters, painters aod plumbers were hard at work The extent of the changes that have been made is very much in evidence.

Entering the maiu store the visitor’s attent’on is at once attracted by the hard-

He will observe that the counters and tables have been made moveable, and that hand- some brass rods suspended by chains re- place the wire lines formerly used for the displaying of goods.
