During his week's visit to Prince Edward Island. Dr. J. P. Omordam newly appointed Medical Director oi the Maritime Depot of the Can- adian Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service at Halifax, visited all the hospitals in the Province where he conferred with the doctors and the staiis. l-le also spoke at the semi- annual meeting oi the Prince Ed- ward Island Division, Canadian Rod Cross society held in Summerside last Thursday, and at the weekly meetings of the Charlottetown Rotary, Gyro and Kiwanis Clubs and showed the film “Miracle Fluid."

record highs. The grain harvest for the province as a whole is up l5 per cent over last year. Com- pleto absence of blight win boost the quality of the crops to new highs too, The apple yield is ax- pected to be about 1,210,000 bar- rels, as compared to 750,000 for 104-8.

New Brunswlclfls grain harvest is slightly better than average, but lower than last year's boom yield. The potato crop - mainstay in the Province - will probably equal last year's l'l,$l6,000-bushel yield.

Midsummer Drought

A midsummer drought brought August bush fires in Quebec which reduced the Province's'fsrrn yields, but final harvest figures are ex- pected to be only slightly lower than last year's $000,000,000. Wages, too, are lower than last year with an increase in the sup- ply of labor. The hay crop was hardest hit by the summer droughts, and final figures are expected to show a drop from last year's 6 .000 tons to 4,313,821.

Manitoba had a. betlsr-than-av- crage wheat crop with the harv- est in central and northern soo- tions of the province emectod to be 00,000,000 bushels. or an aver- age cl 18.0 per acre of No. 2 northern wheat.

The total yield in Saskatchewan is expected to bo slightly lower this year than last. Of 10700.0(!) acres sown to wheat this year, 4,- 000.000 will yield less than five bushels an acre. In i048, only 000,- 000 _acres produced less than five bushe‘ .

The quality of this year's crop is below that of last year, too.

Alberta is harvesting a much smaller crop than last year. 0d about 0,500,000 acres - sown to wheat, farmers are averagim i3 bushels an acre as compared with an average of 11 l-i in i948.

TRAIN WINDOWS BROKEN’ - Three windows. each on separate cars of the Borden train, were broken by stones last night as the train was passing through Muttarfs Siding, Carleton, on the way to Charlottotown. The windows brok- en included s. window of the priv- ate oar of the General Manager of the Dominion Atlantic Railway. Aboard the train were Maritime Board of ‘Irade member coming to the City for today's meeting. It was reported that the stones were thrown by youths about l3 or l4 years ofage.

The beneficial effect of the transfusions was almost instantan- eous, and the child has made splen- did progress since.
