Plans ior the 1948 season at the Y.M.C.A. Holland Cove Camp were reviewed at a meeting oi the Camp committee lest evening.

Tentative arrangement are be~ ing made ior a leadership training course oi two weeks‘ duration g9,- the Camp on June l6 to June 30th. '1‘he course will be s ISO-operative enterprise following the pattern oi a similar course conducted ior a shorter period last year. Instruc. tion will be provided in swimming. liie saving, iirst aid, nature study. out-trip planning, handicralts, camp management, nutrition. camp health and sanitation, ioreatry and conservation. and progrgm planning. Representation at the, training course is expected from most oi the camping agencies in I’. E. l. Candidates ior Canadian Red Cross instructions in aquatics and iirst aid are also expected to attend. ,

Two cam/ping periods ior boys 10-14 years oi age are planned. These periods will be two weeks crch in duration. A period ior a Y. M. C. A. Young People's Camp is being reserved early in Aug-gt. ‘Ptvo Girl Guides groups will use the site later in August. Weekend and overnight camping is planned [or the spring months.

James A. McConnell, general sccretdry oi the Y. M. C. A. will be Camp Director. Ivan Robinson. Arldlfl University student will again be the Program Director. A good number oi the Counsellors and C.I.T.‘s oi iormer years are expected to return as group lead- ITS.

The clearing oi woodland on the camp property and the burning oi slash will be undertaken during the winter m nbhs by Martin Mitchell oi Rec y Point. This de-

., velopxnent will make the woods more usable during the camping season. Red pine and maple seed iings will be transplanted at var- lous points on the camp property in the spring, to continue the re iurestration schema ‘started iast year.

Annual Meeting 0f Si. Paul’: Church _‘

The annual meeting oi st. Paul’; Church was held on Monday ve- ning, January 10th, in the Pa ish Hall, a large number oi’ parish- ioners being present.

The meeting was opened with a hymn and prayer by the Rector, Rev. J. T. Ibbott who presided Mr. J. E. H. Worth was the Sec? retary. r

The reports oi the various organ- izations were read and on motion were adopted and showed the Church to be in a healthy cellul- tlon.

Hearty votes o! thanks were passed complimenting the oiiicers oi the diiierent organizations ior the good work done during the past year. '

The Rocior spoke brieiiy on the Bishop's appeal ior iunds which .s now being launched. The money is to be used within the diocese and also to assist in the rebuild- ing oi Canterbury Cathedral in ilingiand which suitared irom bombing during the last war.

Mr. A J. Haslam as chairman oi the Property Committee report- ed on the present condition oi he church building, the Sun y School building and the Rectory which are in need oi immediate repairs. A contract amounting to approximately $9,000 1135 been let with a large contracting iirm ti: have the necessary repairs made. This work will be done in the spring. In connection with raising iunds in the parish to pay ior the cost oi this work. the Rector in- augurated a cent-a-ineai iuno which was met with a very hearty response by those present.

A very hearty vote oi apprecia- tion was tendered the Rector and Mrs. Ibbott ior their untiring eiiorts on behali oi the work oi’ the church, during the past year.

The election oi Church Wardens, Vestry and other oilicers was then held. Messrs. E. V. Bell and A. J. I-Iaslam were elected Church Wardens and_ the ioilowing were elected Vestrymen, A. H. Duvar, '1‘. D. DeBlols, J. E. H. Worth, G. E. Ives, I. A. Home, G. E. Proc- ter, W. N. Wilson, J. A. Likely, R. E. Kemp, G. G. Wood, Gordon Roper, and A. G. Hogan.

The following were elected as representatives to Diocesan Synod. G. B. Ryan. E. V. Bell. Subsu- tutes, J. E. H. Worth, R. ill. Kemp.

The ioilowing were elected as representatives to the Diocesan Church Society: A. G. Ley, H. C. Bohaker, '1‘. D. DeBiols and Ernest Seller.

Witness went into McLean's yard at 220 King and saw two or three men coming out oi yard with a ladder. Witness helped to put ladder up to third story w-in- dow from which two girls were hanging but they could not get the girls out.

Mr. Ray Murphy. 214 King street. said he phoned Police Station about 1.55. Two girls visiting’ hi~ hcrne woke witness and his vdie. Witness saw fire coming out oi chimney oi Iorkin part oi the house. He saw Mr. Larkm with his head out oi sec- ond story window, yelling {or help. Witness wen-t. into McKays yard and got a step ladder but it was too short. I-Ie then saw Joseph coming through air irom third story window. Witness gave Joseph a; sling beiore he struck the ground which prevented the boy irom tailing head clown. Wit- ness kept yelling ior the girls to jump. Eddie, 14. also Jumped irom third story window. He was not hurt. I-lc probably hit some wires in his iall.

Witness thought ' girls should have been saved. He did not think they were wedged in wind-ow. The iiremen arrived at 2.20. When told by Mr. James Power that iireman had turned Hughes Corner at 2 o'clock, witness said he could not. help that. The lire- men, he said, did not arrive be- iore 2.20. Had he known they would not arrive beiore that, wit- ness could have had all his furni- ture saved. Instead. he lost _it all. The police had arrived iour or ilve minutes alter witness had phoned the station.
