Escape From Satellite Scheduled For Study

OTTAWA (CP)—The United States Air Force has placed a contract in Canada for a stud on how to escape from a manned satellite, a Canadian government document has _1e- vealed. No details were given.

The 1961 annual report of the defence production also dis- closed:

1. A feasibility study into the launching of test rockets from

| aircraft to altitudes of 20 miles | at velocities up to 10 times the | speed of sound. The speed of

sound is about 760 miles an hour at sea level. The program may be connected with counter- missile research.
