B., Nov. 23.- “Boldy" Schwab, tricky Abbie left lane performer, converted Jackie Kane's D888 into a goal after 58 seconds of the second overtime per- iod here tonight to give the Char- lottetown team a 2 to 1 victory over ihc Moncton Hawks in the second Maritime Hockey League fixture. For the second time this week the teams battled eighty minutes and as in the previous case the deciding Roai was scored within a'minute nitcr the commencement of the sec- ond overtime period.

A Thriller

Tonight's game was a thriller all the way, there were thrills, spills and, plenty of hard checklngand an old fashioned free-for-all fight thrown in for good measure. In the middle chucker following a mix-up between McManus and McArthur, players for both teams milled and when they were finally pulled apart, six raven were given three minute rests 8'11 during the time they were in the box, "Daddy" Bubar and Jimmy "m? save phenomenal perform- ances between the uprights.

Each team scored ‘a marker in the initial twenty minutes, Bert Con- nolly poking in Dud James’ pass for the first count and less than three minutes later Ron Hudson knotted the count when he raced down right wing, shot as he struck the Moncton defence and continued right through to pick up his own rebound and drive it into the hemp. From then on play sec-sawed up and down the ice at terrific speed, but neither team were able to notch up another tally in the regulation time limit of sixty minutes.

Abbies Have Edge

0n the play tonight the Island pack were the better team. Jimmy Gardner has taught his pupils well. They showed keen Judgment all the way through and the front liners were clicking in combination play and forward passing, much better than Nlcklins collection, and de- servedithelr win.

Kane Outstanding

Jackie Kane stood out promin- ently in the Abbie victory and turn- ed in his best performance on Moncton lce. He skated like a de- mon all night, took his bumps with a grin and kept continually plug- ging, and it was fitting that the lit- tle winger figured in the winning marker.

Schwab and Lawlor Great

"Baldy" Schwab, also played a fine game tonight, while Walter Lawlor who replaced "Chuck" Jem- mett as pivot man for Kano and Schwab, also showed up well and this trio along with "Daddy ' Bu- bar were the stars for the red. and black shirted club. Bert Connolly, ‘long galted all round man, Sammy McManus and Dud James were out- standing with Jlmmy Foster for the Hawks.

The Play

Play opened fast and the 4,500 fans and fanettes who jammed every nook and corner of the Stadium realized they were in for a fine ex- hibition. Dud James and Bert Con- nolly started the hcmesters away to acne goal lead at 14.36. James carried the heel up the ice, pulled the visiting rear guard ic one side and slipped a perfect pass to Con- nolly and the lanky Montrealcr rifled a bullet-like drive into the hemp. ’

Hudson Tied Score

Ferguson went cif for repairs in the third period when he attempt- ed to check Connolly, but missed him and crashed into the boards while Sammy McMa.nus sustained a cut over the left eye in the first period when he slipped and fell head first into the boards.
