The Committee

As I descended down into the bowls of the Main building I heard a roar of laughter rise from the Theatre Society room. I entered the room and (was casually introduced to a happy—go-lucky cast, by David Moses (director) as a reporter from the newspaper. I took off my jacket, sat down and listened.

When the script reading was over I was thoroughly impressed. Nick Grant (producer) asked me how I liked it. "I think you have a sure thing, Nick. The audience will love it, especially the characters Col. Mustard (portrayed by Jeff McGee) and Flann O'Brian (Kevin Walker)."

(I mingled with some of the cast members. I asked ‘Nils Connor's personal view of his character that he portrays in the play. "I do not like Boswell as a person

briefly interviewed Jeff McGee on how he would describe his

character. "A discrepted old military man with bad bowels named Col. Mustard. He provides comic relief in the play spending 3/u of the time in the~can (bathroom). I think he is a riot to portray."

I questioned Valerie Pepler (Joan) on how the play was progressing "the script is constantly changing [because the writer is present], lines are not learned yet because of the changing but it is good, so you can see what direction the play is going, where the writer is leading up to and you understand more what the writer is presenting when making the changes."

P.V. O'Donnell is a sensitive and exciting musicial, a recognized authority on Irish folk‘ music. A native of Buncrana
