There is no greater injustice that can be inflicted upon a girl than for a mother to allow a daughter to enter womanhood or | Ww ifehood without a practical know ledge of | a household and its requirements, writes Edward W. The largest retinue of servants requires a head, and an intelligent one, just as the Jar zest busi- ness requires a master, and servants, whether in a home or in an office, are quick to discover incapacity and take ad- vantage of it. The woman closest to the solution of the servant girl

A Crisis Avoided.

The Globe says that after the debate or the navy on Tuesday, in the House ot Commons, all the Lords of the Admiralty resigned. Yesterday, after Sir William Vernon Harcourt, Chancellor of the Ex- chequer, explained to the Lords of the Admiralty that the Government intended to maintain the British navy’s supremacy, their resignations were withdrawn.
